Not in the Caribbean

Geography was not my forte, but I survived it. Many years later I have come to understand some very basic truths especially when grouping destinations as part of the tropical Caribbean getaway together . And I'll be honest with you, if it's only in my adult life have I come to know that not all islands are in the Caribbean .

Have you ever noticed that it's often mentioned as The Caribbean, The Bahamas and Bermuda? Well that's mainly because that the two sun-destinations are not in the Caribbean. They are actually both located in the Atlantic Ocean, and here's another bee in the bones, the same goes for Turks and Caicos, which is also found in the Atlantic Ocean, well, the North Atlantic, Southeast of the Bahamas.

However, these islands are grouped together with the Caribbean for reasons of convenience, cultural similarities, and marketing. Bermuda is roughly at the same latitude as Savannah, Ga., while the Bahamas sit off the coast of southern Florida and are scattered south toward Cuba and Hispaniola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic).

And while this may not change your view on the divine destinations, it's just an interesting fact.

Have fun in the sun!!
