Ripened pommecytheres - peel and eat

In Trinidad and Tobago this fruit is called pommecythere.  Other islands have different names for it such as golden apple, june plum, golden plum, etc.

The fruit is BEST when ripe, it's a bright yellow.colour and if it's sweet, the fragrance is delicious, as much as an aroma can be delicious. The flesh can be bother hard and or very soft, but only if it's ripened. The seed is like a torture device, with lots of prickly spines, but still very edible.

But whether ripened or green it can be enjoyed either way. Trinbagonians love to make a chow out of the fruit. Garlic, pepper, salt, and chadon beney(also known as culantro).
