Travel Tip: Don't Panic When You Are Lost
Dear Travel Diary,
Have you ever thought you are your own Google & Waze when you travel to a new destination?
At times some of us like the idea of being our very own Christopher Columbus, and much like him all it takes is one wrong turn, miscommunication, and an error in judgement to find yourself in a place far removed from where you began and should ultimately be. Of course some of those misfortunes can be a good or bad thing; but, personally for me, it's all about how you handle the error.
Never being a person who likes to panic to the point of hyperventilation and just going absolutely crazy if I were to get lost, I prefer to look at the situation as one of an opportunity Panicking simply makes things worse, mainly because you are not thinking clearly and worst of all you draw unwanted attention to yourself especially if you find yourself in a less-than-desirable location .
When you do get lost, pull out that map, and learn how to read it. Or in today's society, whip out your phone, or get over your stubbornness and ask someone for directions. Take this lesson as an opportunity to test your "problem solving skills", you know that skill set you put on your resume to land that J.O.B. Not only will you figure out how to get back on the right track, but accomplishing such a feat will leave you feeling absolutely accomplished!
Remember, MAYBE, MAYBE, that wrong turn will lead you on an unexpected adventure. Sometimes, it never hurts to explore.
TIP: IF YOU'RE SCARED TO GET LOST INTERNATIONALLY, BEGIN BY GETTING LOST IN YOUR BACKYARD, YOU KNOW, WHERE YOU LIVE. TAKE IT STEP BY STEP AND SIMPLY HAVE FUN!
Happy getting lost!
